Municipality of Drasenhofen
The starting point of the Way of St. James in the Weinviertel region.
Drasenhofen is the official starting point of the Way of St. James in the Weinviertel region. The starting point is located at the municipal office, where informational boards and an information point inform about the following 153 km.
The historical path from Krakow and Lwow to Santiago de Compostela leads through Drasenhofen. This made Drasenhofen a pilgrimage village as early as in the middle ages.
Things worth seeing in Drasenhofen
Today, pilgrims enjoy, for instance, the parish church dedicated to St. Vitus. The Traktorium is also worth a visit. It provides insights into historical life in the village. You also shouldn't miss the former emperor's road, today serving as a cellar alley, at the northern village entrance.
Kleinschweinbarth
The parish of Kleinschweinbarth also belongs to the municipality. Apart from the lovely church, it also features pilgrimage quarters - the access path coming from Mikulov also connects to the Way of St. James in the Weinviertel region at Kleinschweinbarth.
